TC STQ

Speech and end-to-end media quality performance for terminals and networks, including test methods, equipment and performance requirements for current and future network telecommunications services.

ETSI’s Technical Committee on Speech and multimedia Transmission Quality (TC STQ) and its STQ MOBILE Working Group are responsible for standardisation and technical studies relating to terminals and networks for speech and media end-to-end quality from the user’s perspective. These include Quality of Service (QoS) parameters for terminals, networks, and services, along with Quality of Experience (QoE) descriptors and methods.

The committee’s work enables application of standards in the real world by characterisation of methodologies and sharing publicly available best practices building on the standard’s foundation.

  • What we do

TC STQ defines methods for accurate reproduction of acoustic scenarios for terminal testing and develop instrumental quantitative predictors of users’ subjective experience of speech and sound quality and listening effort.

TC STQ also defines metrics and test specifications for terminals including requirements and performance objectives.

The Committee’s STQ MOBILE Working Group defines frameworks, test methods and key performance indicators that allow network operators to plan and monitor their offerings.
