ETSI’s Technical Committee on Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (TC DECT) is responsible for the technical development of the portfolio of DECT standards, by maintaining classic DECT and fostering DECT-2020 NR, both technologies operating in the globally available 1.9 GHz band. The committee’s current focus is driving DECT-2020 NR as future-proof wireless technology for massive Internet-of-Things, home/industrial connectivity and audio systems.

What we do
- Define technically the radio interface and protocol procedures for DECT-2020 NR;
- Work with other institutions and regulators to ensure global harmonisation of the 1.9 GHz DECT band;
- Define a modern security framework for DECT-2020 NR, including strong authentication, key management, commissioning and encryption;
- Develop conformance and interoperability test specifications to guarantee consistent implementations of DECT-2020 NR;
- Maintain standards for classic DECT, New Generation DECT, DECT Ultra Low Energy, and DECT Evolution.

The WG organises and contributes to the dissemination and promotion of DECT-2020 technology and DECT evolution technology in general.
