TC DECT

Development and maintenance of all DECT™ standards, covering both legacy and next-generation wireless technologies.

ETSI’s Technical Committee on Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (TC DECT) is responsible for the technical development of the portfolio of DECT standards, by maintaining classic DECT and fostering DECT-2020 NR, both technologies operating in the globally available 1.9 GHz band. The committee’s current focus is driving DECT-2020 NR as future-proof wireless technology for massive Internet-of-Things, home/industrial connectivity and audio systems.

  • What we do

    • Define technically the radio interface and protocol procedures for DECT-2020 NR;
    • Work with other institutions and regulators to ensure global harmonisation of the 1.9 GHz DECT band;
    • Define a modern security framework for DECT-2020 NR, including strong authentication, key management, commissioning and encryption;
    • Develop conformance and interoperability test specifications to guarantee consistent implementations of DECT-2020 NR;
    • Maintain standards for classic DECT, New Generation DECT, DECT Ultra Low Energy, and DECT Evolution.
