ETSI announces OpenCAPIF Release 4 aligned with 3GPP

Sophia Antipolis, France, 3 April 2026

ETSI Software Development Group OpenCAPIF (SDG OCF) is pleased to announce Release 4.0.0. With 3GPP Release 19 alignment and improved architecture, this release includes major upgrades to boost security and flexibility all around. OCF Release 4 introduces the first phase of Visibility Control, a gamechanger for API access management, alongside a fully revamped certificate architecture and smoother deployments.

Key Enhancements:

  • Visibility Control API: The first step toward letting API providers define who can discover and access their APIs.
  • Scalable Certificate Architecture: Deploying multiple CAPIF instances has just gotten easier. Each instance now generates its own keys, eliminating conflicts in shared environments.
  • Modular NGINX Configuration: Cleaner, more flexible routing and policy management.
  • Security Upgrades: Fixed reported vulnerabilities and implemented improved security context handling for invokers.
  • Simplified Deployments: Helm scripts now support environment files, facilitating the switch between dev, staging, and production contexts.
  • 3GPP CAPIF Release 19 Alignment: Fully updated to the latest standards, keeping OpenCAPIF ahead of the curve.

This new Release continues to demonstrate how ETSI, as a founding member of 3GPP, can help advance the future of telecommunications.
