ETSI’s Software Development Group TeraFlowSDN (SDG TFS) is developing an open source cloud native SDN controller and network automation framework to enable smart networks and services for 6G and beyond.
TeraFlowSDN provides end-to-end network orchestration and control, based on a cloud-native microservices architecture. It offers a versatile toolbox for different ETSI groups and research initiatives to experiment with new features for flow aggregation, management, network equipment integration, AI and ML-based security, along with forensic evidence for multi-tenancy.
A dedicated group in SDG TFS is developing a Network Slice Controller (NSC). This is a software-defined network controller supporting standardised IETF interfaces, allowing the orchestration of requests, deployment and lifecycle management of network slices in the transport networks.
SDG TFS collaborates with several other standardisation and software groups working on network transformation, both at ETSI and in other relevant standards bodies and foundations including IETF and the Linux Foundation. SDG TFS benefits from a wide research and innovation ecosystem, leveraging the code and contributing feedback from innovative use cases.
SDG TFS delivers two major code releases per year, in April and October, followed by plenary meetings and Hackfests. During release cycles the community meets weekly online to synchronise progress and priorities.
