TC MSG

Responding to mandates from the EC in support of European regulation of related systems; identifying European regulatory requirements on cellular systems developed by 3GPP

ETSI’s Mobile Standards Group Technical Committee (TC MSG) is responsible for identifying European regulatory requirements applicable to cellular mobile technologies specified by the 3GPP.

TC MSG develops Harmonised Standards and related ETSI deliverables under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU, addressing the essential requirement of efficient use of radio spectrum as set out in Article 3.2 of the Directive. These standards provide a means to demonstrate conformity for radio equipment implementing GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5G New Radio (NR) technologies, enabling their placing on the European market.

Harmonised Standards under the Radio Equipment Directive

Preparation of Harmonised European Standards supporting compliance with Article 3.2 of the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU), enabling manufacturers to demonstrate conformity and place compliant radio equipment on the European market.

  • What we do

    • Develop Harmonised Standards addressing the essential requirements of Article 3.2 of the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU).
    • Maintain ETSI deliverables under TC MSG responsibility throughout their lifecycle.
    • Support ETSI activities carried out in response to mandates from the European Commission.
