About

ETSI’s Centre for Testing and Interoperability, with the support of ETSI’s Technical Committee for Electronic Signatures and Trust Infrastructures (TC ESI), is organised the Electronic Attestation of Attributes (EAA) Plugtests™ event, which was held remotely from 4 May to 30 June 2026. This event was co-funded by the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

Originally scheduled to end on 1 June 2026, this Plugtests event was extended to 30 June 2026 following requests from participants to allow additional time for testing.

What was the scope of the Electronic Attestation of Attributes (EAA) Plugtests?

The aim of this event was to check the interoperability of EAA, a key component of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). The testing covered the ETSI Technical Specification TS 119 472-1, with a special focus on the formats built on SD-JWT VC and ISO 18013-5.

The following types of tests were conducted during the EAA Plugtests event:

  • Generation and cross-verification tests.
  • Only-verification tests (negative tests).
  • EAA conformance tests.

Who could participate?

Developers, providers, and stakeholders involved in EAA and the European Digital Identity Wallet solutions were welcome.
The event was free of charge and is open to ETSI members and non-members.

First steps

Registration

All participants were expected to register individually to this event. The first person from an organisation to register for the event was de facto the official contact for technical and administrative matters.

The registration deadline was extended from 20 April to 29 April 2026.

This event was free of charge.

Rules of Engagement (RoE) AND Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)

By registering for the Electronic Attestation of Attributes (EAA) Plugtests event, new participating organisations joined the ESI Plugtests Programme and were asked to sign the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) which they received upon registration for signature.

These RoE and NDA cover the series of Plugtests events which are held as part of the ESI Plugtests Programme.

Companies which previously signed the RoE and NDA of the ESI Plugtests Programme when registering to the previous ESI Plugtests event, did not need to sign the RoE and NDA again. Only new organisations joining the Programme would receive the RoE and NDA for signature.

Participants were not allowed to participate in the event if the RoE and NDA of the Programme were not signed by a representative of their organisation.

Credentials to access the testing web portal were issued once the RoE and NDA were completed and the portal opened.

The deadline to sign the Rules of Engagement and Non-Disclosure Agreement was extended from 27 April to 4 May 2026.
