TC ESI

Format of digital signatures including procedures and policies for creation and validation; policy, security and technical requirements for Trust Service Providers (TSP) such as certification and time-stamping authorities.

ETSI’s Technical Committee on Electronic Signatures and Trust Infrastructures (TC ESI) produces standards and technical specifications supporting requirements for Electronic Identity, Authentication and Signatures. These are based around Regulation EU 910/2014, amended by Regulation 2024/1183.

The Committee’s objective is to support accountability of natural persons (physical persons) and legal persons (e.g. companies, organisations) for:

  • Electronic documents and other data provided through the provision of electronic signatures and seals using digital signatures;
  • Websites using website authentication certificates;
  • Electronic mail and transactions through proof of submission and delivery;
  • Access to services through use of the EU Digital Identity Wallet.
