SC USER

Ensuring standardisation work in ETSI reflects requirements of all users of ICT products and services, including consumers and businesses, network operators, service providers and individuals with special needs.

ETSI’s User Group Special Committee (SC USER) has a specific place within ETSI and the standardisation landscape. While other ETSI Technical Committees are focused on equipment, services, and technologies; SC USER examines the impacts on user behaviours and expectations within the ICT landscape, with the aim to improve the user’s experience.

User-centric Approach in a Digital Ecosystem

  • What we do

The experts working in USER groups are often also actors in other ETSI Technical Committees, and so are liaising with these committees. These include TC HF, TC CYBER, TC SAI, TC STQ and TC eHealth.

The SC USER is also driven by academic researchers and experts from user associations.

The role of the User Group is also specific within the ICT landscape: it needs to have close contacts with, on one hand, the technical committees developing technologies and services for the users, and on the other hand with administrations, regulators and users’ associations inside or outside ETSI. This includes groups like INTUG, ANEC and AFUTT.
