Mauro De Santis

Mauro De Santis works at the Directorate General for Markets and Payment Systems of the Bank of Italy, where he contributes to the design and coordination of international initiatives on payment systems, digital innovation, and cyber resilience. He is an expert in critical financial infrastructures, including wholesale and retail payment systems, with a focus on their strategic evolution and innovation dynamics.
Within the G7 Cyber Expert Group (CEG), he serves as Co-lead of the Quantum Resilience Task Force, spearheading the development of the group’s strategic roadmap and monitoring cycle. He also drives G7 policy work on the risks and opportunities of emerging technologies—such as AI and cloud computing—and is actively involved in international standard-setting fora.
Furthermore, he contributes to the definition of international policy orientations on business continuity, operational resilience, and cybersecurity for the financial system, and serves as a national expert in a joint OECD–European Commission project on the use of AI in financial markets.
Previously, he gained over twenty years of private-sector experience leading large-scale digital transformation projects at Accenture.
