Dr James Howe leads the cryptography team at SandboxAQ, overseeing its researchers and serving as the company’s subject-matter expert on cryptography. He drives research and guides the design and enhancement of SandboxAQ’s cybersecurity products, with a focus on post-quantum cryptography, cryptographic modernization, and strengthening compliance and risk-management capabilities. He is an author of SDitH, a NIST PQC signature-scheme candidate, and serves as vice-chair of the ETSI Quantum-Safe Cryptography working group. He was recently named to the Quantum Security 25 list of the top 25 most influential people in quantum security. For more than a decade, his research has focused on hardware and software implementations, side-channel security, and the practical application of advanced cryptography.
