ETSI, with the support of the ETSI TC MSG (Mobile Standards Group), TC EMTEL (Emergency Telecommunications) and EENA (The European Emergency Number Association), is organizing the NG (Next Generation) eCall Plugtests 2025 event, which will take place from 10th to 13th of June 2025 in Bonn, Germany. This event will be hosted by Deutsche Telekom.

Recent amendments of Delegated Regulations (EU) No 305/2013 and (EU) 2015/758 require deployment of NG eCall equipment from 1st of January 2026. This event will allow to verify the interoperability of the different components that constitute the European Next Generation Emergency Communication architecture.

The NG eCall testing event aims at increasing the level of interoperability between IVS (In-Vehicle System) and PSAP (Public Service Answering Point) to provide the NG eCall service via a packet switched wireless communications network using IMS (Internet protocol Multimedia System) and 4/5G wireless access.

Testing will focus on interoperability of the Next Generation eCall over 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) between the In-Vehicle Systems (IVS) and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP), supporting the Next Generation eCall.

Testing will be based on the ETSI TS 103 683 (NG eCall: HLAP Interoperability Testing). NG eCall conformance tests, based on EN 17240:2024, as well as other testing activities can be provided by participating companies to complement the interoperability tests.

The event will allow to run interoperability testing for advanced emergency services scenarios, giving the priority to provide ‘real’ infrastructure from European Mobile Network Operators, especially an actual 4G network instead of a simulated one. It will help enrich the testing by bringing real use case scenario and move on to the next steps for vendors to deploy the next generation of a European Emergency Services network. This is why Deutsche Telekom will host the event and provide a real mobile network infrastructure for the testing.

In Vehicle System (IVS) and Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) vendors are invited to join the event. The NG eCall Plugtests 2025 event offers the opportunity for vendors to run interoperability test sessions using predefined test descriptions.

This activity is co-funded by the European Commission and the EFTA.

ETSI and the Institute for Quantum Computing are thrilled to organize the 2025 edition of their joint event, the ETSI/IQC Quantum Safe Cryptography Conference. This year, the event will be hosted physically by the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) on 3-5 June 2025 in Madrid (Spain).

Important: The event has reached maximum room capacity and registration is closed. Please contact events@etsi.org for further information.

Background

We increasingly rely on cyber technologies, and hence are ever more vulnerable to cyber-attacks. As progress toward a cryptographically relevant quantum computer advances, these attack vectors grow and the imperative to prepare for a transition to quantum secure technologies continues to increase.
This is a continually evolving and complex journey and much remains to be understood and navigated.

About the Conference

Designed for members of the business, government, and research communities with a stake in cryptographic standardization, this forward-looking conference facilitates the knowledge exchange and collaboration required to transition cyber infrastructures and business practices to make them safe and resilient in an era with quantum computers. It will showcase both the most recent developments from industry and government and cutting-edge potential solutions coming out of the most recent research.
This conference is a perfect opportunity to determine your next steps, learn from experts and network with others going through the process. Nowhere else can you encounter the latest research in such an actionable way, with specific tracks for both executives and technical experts.
The conference is held in English.

ETSI STQ Conference: Communications for All,
Supporting Diversity and Accessibility through Quality of End-to-end Network Transmission
and Devices in Human-to-human and Human-to-machine Communication
13-14 May 2025
ETSI, Sophia Antipolis France

ETSI Technical Committee Speech and multimedia Transmission Quality (TC STQ) is pleased to announce that the ETSI STQ Conference: Communications for All - Supporting Diversity and Accessibility through Quality of End-to-end Network Transmission and Devices in Human-to-human and Human-to-machine Communication, will take place face-to-face in ETSI Premises, Sophia Antipolis, France on 13-14 May 2025.

The event is free of charge, open to all upon mandatory registration. The agenda is online. Register now!

 About the event

This face-to-face conference aims at bringing together communities that have not been well-connected to standards development in speech and multimedia transmission until now. ETSI TC STQ recognizes the need to bring more inclusivity to technical standards on the quality of network transmission and devices on speech and multimedia in human-to-human and human-to-machine communication, to ensure that diverse groups have input into the work of STQ.

Standardization of measurement and evaluation methods for speech and multimedia devices and networks is crucial to ensure that all users receive high quality of service and high quality of experience.  Previous work in ETSI TC STQ has focused on human perception of speech and audio, as well as network-enabled services.  However, with some exceptions, various aspects of accessibility still need to be addressed.

In order to bridge this gap, this conference will provide a venue for interested advocates and communities to present and discuss issues of relevance, that so far have not been at the centre of technical standards development. The Programme Committee encourages a wide range of inputs and views to help inform and guide future work on diversity and accessibility.

Target Audience

The event is addressed to:

Affected / relevant user groups, Research bodies, Regulators,  Manufacturers, Systems Integrators,  Service providers, Network Operators

The agenda is now avalailable.

Additional information to attendees: should you have accessibility needs, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Following directly from an ETSI’s 6G Monday, 6G FORGE will bring together advocates and doubters from across the industry to make sure we can address two critical issues:

Aligning 6G development or prioritisation with the business context and priorities of the industry and its customers. Linking the evolution from 5G to 6G with growth opportunities.

We’ve all heard the hype, and some of us are already in Gartner’s “trough of disillusionment”. It’s high time for real talk. Join experts from industry, government, R&D and end-users to determine the true value of 6G for stakeholders and how best to achieve it.

6G FORGE will be hosted by Eurecom on 15-16 April 2025, in Sophia Antipolis, France, only a mile or so away from ETSI’s HQ.
