About
ETSI is pleased to host the virtual ESTIMED Hackathon #2 that will take place from 5 October to 26 November 2026.
The project called ESTIMED (Enabling Standardized IoT deployments in MEC Environments for advanced systems) is co-funded by the European Commission and EFTA. It brings together open standards from ETSI ISG MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) and oneM2M into a horizontal platform for interoperable and scalable IoT systems.
Join the hackathon and help spark innovation in oneM2M and MEC.
- The ESTIMED Hackathon #2 invites developers, researchers, and innovators to collaborate and build cutting-edge applications leveraging oneM2M IoT standards and ETSI MEC edge computing technologies.
- Deadline to register: 1 September 2026

Hackathon Objectives
- Deliver a functional prototype of a MEC and/or oneM2M-based application, leveraging existing oneM2M and MEC implementations and their interoperable configurations.
- The expected outcome is an operational prototype demonstrating feasibility and solution integration.
Who Should Join?
- This hackathon is especially designed for:
1. Research organisations.
2. Universities.
3. SMEs.
4. Developers and software engineers
Why Attend?
- Gain in-depth, hands-on knowledge of oneM2M and MEC implementations and deployments.
- Move beyond theory: understand how oneM2M and MEC standards operate through practical prototype implementation and interworking processes.
- Strengthen open-source technology skills: develop practical expertise using relevant open-source platforms and tools (ACME, tinyIoT, Mobius and MEC sandbox).
- Network and collaborate: team up with developers and experts from diverse backgrounds, exchange ideas, and build valuable professional relationships.
- Experience real-world problem-solving and portfolio enhancement: participate in projects addressing industry or societal needs, while enhancing your individual or team portfolio.
