ETSI Webinar: 5 September, 15.30 - 17.00 cest

ETSI STF 642 - ACEMCOM Project ran its webinar on Accessibility and Interoperability of Emergency Communications and for Answering of Emergency Communications on 5 September, at 15:30 cest.

The transition of Emergency communications from legacy circuit switched telecommunication network to packet switched network is rapidly taking place in the European region offering more capabilities in communications. Features like real time text (RTT) and video have become feasible to use along with voice. Emergency communication using these features need to be available and accessible to everyone including persons with disabilities to fulfil the European Accessibility Act (EAA) Directive (EU) 2019/882. Emergency communications shall be routed to appropriate European Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and accessible while users are travelling in Europe.

An expert team ETSI STF 642 (ACEMCOM Project, co-funded by the EC and the EFTA) presented and spoke about the European Commission requested standards TS 103 919 and EN/HS 303 919 titled Accessibility and interoperability of emergency communications and for answering of emergency communications by the PSAPs (including to the single European Emergency number 112).

These standards address the technical requirements and implementation of IP multimedia-based emergency communication protocols and technology, to be implemented in user equipment and communication services by mobile network operators or VoIP service providers as well as the corresponding handling in emergency communication networks and PSAPs
