ETSI ISG F5G is organizing a virtual open session entitled "F6G: Defining the Foundations of the Next Optical Network Generation" scheduled on 30 October 2025, from 10am to 1pm CET.
As the world continues to evolve with rapid technological advancements and emerging challenges, the development of new generations of fixed optical networks is essential to meet future demands and opportunities. F6G will build on and evolve the capabilities of the current F5G Advanced optical networks.
About the event
The objective of this open session is to begin shaping the ETSI ISG F5G vision for the next generation of optical networks - F6G - by exploring:
- Visions and priorities for F6G from different perspectives
- Use cases, scenarios, and business needs
- Research and technologies currently in development for F6G
- Key challenges on the path to F6G
Why attend?
The session will bring together stakeholders from across the optical fibre ecosystem to:
- Share their visions and expectations about F6G
- Present their insights
- Discuss future directions and emerging trends
Who should attend?
The event is essentially relevant for:
- Industry (operators, service providers, vendors)
- Standards development organisations
- Academia and research organisations
- Governmental bodies.
Attendees will gain valuable insights into the future of fixed optical networks, engage directly with industry and academic experts, contribute to shaping the vision for F6G, and be part of the conversation on the development of next-generation standards and technologies.
