Standard-Essential Patents Policy in Light of Recent EU Policy Developments

The Centre for a Digital Society (CDS) at the European University Institute (EUI), in cooperation with ETSI, organizes the high-level conference titled Standard-Essential Patents Policy in Light of Recent EU Policy Developments. The event explores the legal framework surrounding Standard-Essential Patent (SEP) licensing in Europe and its implications for licensing practice, innovation ecosystems, and dispute resolution frameworks. Bringing together experts from government, industry, academia, and the judiciary, this high-level conference will examine how current and emerging policy shifts are reshaping the SEP licensing landscape after the provisional withdrawal of the SEP Regulation proposal by the European Commission. Through two special remarks, a roundtable and four curated panels, participants will gain a nuanced understanding of the legal, operational, and commercial consequences of policy developments across key domains.

Featured speaker: Magali Fitzgibbon, ETSI’s Legal Affairs and Governance Director, will join the Panel II: Standardisation, SMEs and EU Industrial Policy  on 10 October 2025 at 11.00am CET

6G Forum: the business of 6G: Technology, Strategy, ROI

ETSI is pleased to endorse the virtual 6G Forum organized by RCR Wireless on 7 October 2025.

The telecoms industry remains split. Some players are pushing forward with 6G R&D, envisioning more intelligent, energy-efficient, ecosystem-driven networks. Others remain skeptical, cautious of falling into similar traps as the model for widespread ROI on 5G networks remains elusive.

Beyond the technical milestones, the bigger challenge is clear: how do we build a compelling business case for 6G and win operator buy-in? Join RCR Wireless News' 6G Forum on 7 October to find out.

Featured speaker: Mirko Cano Soveri, Director of Mobile Competence Centre at ETSI, will share forward-thinking perspectives and inspiring insights in 2 sessions:

Presentation: Standardization Roadmap Update - 1pm EDT/7pm CET Panel: What should 6G standards actually enable? 1.10pm EDT/7.10pm CET

ETSI is pleased to support TelecomTV’s virtual Cloud-Native Telco Summit, taking place on 16-17 September 2025.

Now in its seventh year, TelecomTV’s Cloud-Native Telco Summit explores how CSPs are embracing cloud-first strategies. This expanded edition covers every stage of the cloud-native journey—showcasing real-world telco transformations, key benefits, and the future of cloud innovation.

This year’s summit begins with an overview of the strategic and architectural roadmaps to enabling a successful cloud-native transformation: We will map business objectives to migration blueprints and reference architectures and models across core, edge and RAN. The summit will also feature a discussion on how to achieve operational excellence, focusing on areas such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code and AIOps for zero-touch operations. We aim to produce actionable insights on phasing out legacy functions, embedding security and compliance into cloud-native lifecycles and measuring key performance indicators (KPIs). We will highlight solutions to sustain robust continuous innovation, explore partner ecosystems and open-source collaborations, and investigate future-proof initiatives.

Featured speakers: Joan Triay from ETSI ISG NFV and Francisco-Javier Ramon Salguero, ETSI OSM Chair,  will take part in the panel discussion on Roadmaps for cloud-native transformation, on Tuesday 16 September 2025.

Register now to join this free online event and to submit your questions to the speakers ahead of the live Q&A sessions.
