Advert for a Technical Officer in SDC (M/F)
The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), based in Sophia-Antipolis (06), is looking for a Technical Officer within the Standard Development Centre (SDC) in Operations Division (OPS).
The Technical Officer provides both technical and administrative support to ETSI Committees. This support includes advice on good standards-making methods and processes, guidance on the application of the ETSI Directives and Working Procedures, technical and administrative support during meetings, as well as advice on the use of the ETSI portal and associated tools. It involves working closely together with DPC (Document Production Centre) on the final delivery and approval of the standards.
Mission
This is a position for an experienced engineer that includes the following key responsibilities, operating under the supervision of the SDC Director:
- Act as prime ETSI Secretariat contact for the ETSI Committees to which (s)he is assigned.
- Ensure that resulting deliverables are fit for purpose, in line with ETSI requirements for technical and editorial quality and meet the necessary regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with the ETSI Directives and Working Procedures.
- Advise on procedural and drafting matters and promote best practices.
- Provide activity reports and ensure that groups' Decisions and Actions are clearly recorded and followed up.
- Participate in the improvement of the SDC department working methods and documentation.
- Liaise with external organisations as necessary.
Profile
- University degree or equivalent in Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering.
- Work experience in radio technologies.
- Experience working within a standardisation environment (ideally ETSI, 3GPP and/or oneM2M).
- An appreciation of legal or regulatory issues would be beneficial, but full training will be given to a successful candidate with the necessary technical skills.
- Self-motivated, independent, enquiring and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn and become autonomous rapidly.
- Experience with working in international teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Ability to travel internationally.
The post will be based at our headquarters located in Sophia-Antipolis, a lung of greenery between Cannes and Nice.
