During the ITEA Award of Excellence ceremony this week, the IML4E (Industrial Machine Learning for Enterprises) project was honoured with the ITEA Award of Excellence for Standardisation. ITEA is the Eureka RD&I Cluster on software innovation. Among the projects it hosts, IML4E simplifies and scales the adoption of AI & MLOps in European industry through tools, methodologies, and an open, cloud-agnostic platform.

Under the coordination of Fraunhofer FOKUS, IML4E (Industrial Machine Learning for Enterprises) is undertaking standardisation efforts with ETSI MTS. The project results are transferred by the consortium partners into their industrial applications, helping them enhance their competitive advantage.

The award recognises our standardisation work with AI testing committee, and specifically our Report ETSI TR 103 910 on AI testing and our upcoming specification ETSI TS 104 008 on conformity assessment and auditing of AI” says Jürgen Großmann, Fraunhofer FOCUS, coordinator of the project and Chair of the ETSI Technical Committee on Methods for Testing and Specifications AI. This recognition highlights the impact of IML4E in advancing robust, scalable and standardised ML techniques in Europe.

ITEA Award of Excellence for Standardisation

Thanks to its open-source outputs, strong focus on industry needs, and commitment to best practices, IML4E has created not just a toolkit but a foundation for building Europe’s leadership in responsible, standardised and scalable AI. The ITEA Award of Excellence for Standardisation is a well-deserved recognition of the project’s impact and an excellent example of what the research community can bring to the standardisation ecosystem in a close and efficient partnership.
