ETSI ISG NFV has recently published the white paper β€œManagement and Orchestration of the Telco Cloud: The Role of NFV-MANO and Its Added Value”.

The white paper makes a strong case for the critical role of NFV-MANO in the Telco Cloud. It argues that NFV-MANO's core functionalities, along with ongoing enhancements, are essential for building a stable, efficient, and sustainable Telco Cloud ecosystem.

The telecommunications industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by the shift to Telco Cloud architectures. This evolution, spurred by Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), is changing how mobile networks are operated and managed.

The ETSI Industry Specification Group for Network Functions Virtualization (ISG NFV) held its 49th plenary meeting (NFV#49) from March 10th to 14th, 2025, in Sophia-Antipolis, France. This meeting was significant for bringing together key players in the NFV ecosystem to discuss progress, address challenges, and chart the future of network virtualization. The event adopted a hybrid format, allowing for both physical attendance and remote participation, maximizing accessibility for global contributors.

In the context of the 27th Conference on Innovation in Clouds, Internet and Networks (ICIN) 2024, Intelligent network service management across the compute continuum, the week March 11th–15th, 2024, at Orange Gardens in Paris France (co-hosted with ETSI NFV#45 plenary meeting in the same week), ETSI NFV officials and contributors were invited to participate in main events demonstrating the latest ETSI NFV specification status, recent developments and future directions.
