ETSI, in partnership with 5GAA, organizes the 2nd C‑V2X Plugtests™ event, which will be held remotely from 20 to 31 July 2020.

What are the objectives and scope of the Plugtests event?

C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) is an Intelligent Transport System service using mobile communication technology for direct communication as well as network communication between vehicles, from vehicle to pedestrian and from vehicle to infrastructure.

The 2nd C-V2X Plugtests event will enable ITS stations and PKI vendors to run interoperability test sessions to assess the level of interoperability of their implementation and validate the understanding of the ITS security standards. The goal of interoperability testing is to check that implementations of devices with different form factors can work together and provide the functionalities specified in the standards. This edition of the Plugtests event will focus on testing ITS Security features (EU ITS Security Policy and EU ITS Certificate Policy) in order to support industry in the C-ITS deployment in the common single European trust domain as defined by the European Commission in the Release 1 of the document "Security Policy & Governance Framework for Deployment and Operation of European Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS)". A test plan based on the interoperability test specification for ITS security ETSI TS 103 600 v1.1.1 will be used for this event. This is a unique chance for solution providers to maximize the effectiveness of their ITS solutions in test environments.

What are the advantages of attending the C-V2X Plugtests event?

  • To assess the level of interoperability of your implementations
  • To validate your understanding of the standards
  • To test with (many) other real implementations and demonstrate end-to-end interoperability
  • To debug your implementation: early bug fixing, saving time and costs
  • To promote the technology and the ecosystem

By registering to this event, organizations will join the new ITS Plugtests Programme. This Programme will provide a continuous and ubiquitous environment for collaborative testing and validation activities among different organizations. Remote activities are complemented by periodic Plugtests events allowing the Programme community to meet and run face to face intensive testing sessions.

Observers will be able to evaluate the test statistics in the TRT (Test Reporting Tool) provided the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) of the ITS Plugtests Programme have been signed.

Conformance Testing

ETSI CTI (Centre for Testing and Interoperability) will provide a test system to test the conformance of secured ITS-S and PKI implementations.

ETSI Plugtests activities are supported by the European Commission and EFTA.

REGISTRATION

All participants, observers included, must register in order to attend the event. By registering to this event, organizations wil join the ITS Plugtests Programme. The Plugtests Programme provides a continuous and ubiquitous environment for collaborative testing and validation activities among different organizations. It is based on the ETSI Hub for Interoperability and Validation (HIVE), allowing multi-party interoperability tests to take place during and between ETSI Plugtests events. This Programme will be complemented by periodic Plugtests events allowing the Programme community to meet and run face to face intensive testing sessions.

All participants are expected to register individually. Each first person in a company that registered to this event will be de facto the official contact for technical and logistics matters.

After signature of the RoE and NDA, participants will be invited to the preparation conference calls and be subscribed to the Plugtests mailing list dedicated to the 2nd CV2X Plugtests event.

Registrations closed on 12 June 2020.

The event is free of charge.

RoE and NDA

After registering to the CV2X Plugtests event, participating organisations will sign the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) of the ITS Plugtests Programme, which they would receive upon registration.

Upon signature of the Rules of Engagement (RoE) and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) sent to the official contact, the participants will receive their credentials for the 2nd CV2X Plugtests WIKI and invitations to the preparation conference calls.

The deadline to sign the RoE and NDAs is 19 June 2020.
