Chair: Bruno Chatras, Orange
Responsible for the standardization of detailed architecture and protocol specifications for use in networks, for service interconnection and network interconnection, and for future network technologies.
Currently, most of us have an email address and a separate telephone number. Replacing these in the future with a single alphanumeric address may be more convenient for end users – but it creates fresh interconnection challenges for network service providers.
As part of this work, ETSI’s Network Technologies committee (TC NTECH) is responsible for the standardization of detailed architecture and protocol specifications for use in networks, spanning service interconnection and network interconnection as well as future networks technologies.
In 2019, TC NTECH completed its revision of Technical Report [TR 103 282] on options for Number Portability and actual use cases.
After completing this work in the first quarter of 2019, TC NTECH entered a dormant mode, with no new work items foreseen for 2020. However the committee remains open to consider work items relating to naming and numbering that may arise in the future.
TC NTECH continues to act as the ETSI contact point for the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) of the CEPT with regards to numbering, naming, addressing and routing. It also continues to maintain ETSI’s Next Generation Network (NGN) specifications.
