ETSI's Centre for Testing and Interoperability has organized the 3rd NFV Plugtests™ event from 29 May to 8 June 2018. The event was co-located with the OPNFV Plugfest from 4 to 8 June 2018 and took place in ETSI's headquarters in Sophia Antipolis, France.

This 3rd ETSI NFV Plugtests event offered yet another opportunity for vendors and open source communities to meet, collaborate and assess the level of interoperability of their implementations, and last but not least, to verify the correct interpretation of the ETSI NFV specifications.

Organisations interested in actively participating in the test sessions with any of the following components, were invited to join the ETSI NFV Plugtests Programme and register for the Plugtests Event:

  • Virtual Network Functions (VNFs)
  • Management and Orchestration (MANO) solutions
  • Virtual Infrastructure Managers and NFV Infrastructure (VIM&NFVI)
  • Hardware

The 3rd ETSI NFV Plugtests event saw ETSI OSM, Open Baton, OpenStack, Open Air Interface, Sonata and OPNFV as supporting Open Source communities and was co-located with the OPNFV Plugfest, offering a new opportunity for different communities to come together, exchange and collaborate, and make significant advances to their NFV implementations in a short period of time.

Details of how to get to ETSI, local transport and hotels

This Plugtests event builded on the learnings from the previous NFV Plugtests where different NFV capabilities were covered from on-boarding, instantiation, scaling, update and termination of Network Services and Virtual Network Functions to more complex configurations and features such as fault and performance management, enhanced platform awareness, multi-site deployments and NFV APIs.

This third event concentrated on building complex Network Services that combine virtualnetwork functions from different providers, while testing interoperability with MANO solutions across plateforms and sites. It has also exercised advanced NFV features such as network and service automation.

The sessions also demonstrated how multivendor combinations of NFV components can address 5G and Zero-touch network and service management use cases, and expanded the scope of NFV API testing to help progress the work on NFV conformance testing.

Once more, the event has leveraged the Hub for Interoperability and Validation at ETSI (HIVE) to interconnect participants’ labs and local test infrastructure deployed in ETSI.
