Radio

Radio technology is used increasingly worldwide, with applications ranging from land-mobile radio such as TETRA and PMR to intelligent transport systems and RFID to name but a few.

ETSI technical committee ElectroMagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM) deals with standardization of radio technologies and related topics.
In addition to its liaison role with CENELEC, CISPR and the EC on Radio Spectrum, EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility Matters), and regulatory affairs, ERM produces standards for all of these radio applications and services.

The Radio Matters (RM) working group of ERM is responsible for co-operation with the European Radiocommunications Committee (ERC) to secure appropriate spectrum allocations in the CEPT countries for standardised systems, in order to ensure co-existence between different communications systems standardised by ETSI.

ERM has a number of Task Groups (TG) which are set up on a short-term basis to deal with particular issues.  Each TG is specific to a radio technology or topic: TG11 'Wideband Data Systems', TG17 WG3 'Radio Microphones, Cordless Audio and Audio Links', TG27 'TG27 Radio Site Engineering', TG34 'RFID' etc.
