Licensing of Essential Patents

Until 2012 ETSI managed on behalf of DVB a framework for conformance testing and licensing of the java elements of the MHP specification.  These arrangements have been terminated. (These older arrangements are described in a DVB BlueBook A066 r1

A licensing programme was formed by Via Licensing to offer patents covering the non-java elements of MHP.  This patent pool was terminated in 2012. 

Patents essential to the implementation of the MHP specification that are owned by DVB members are available for licensing on terms fair, reasonable and discriminatory. This is line with the IPR policy of the DVB Project.

MHP Logo licensing

A DVB sub-brand is available for GEM implementations. The arrangements for authorising use of the DVB-GEM sub-brand are described at www.dvbservices.com.

DVB managed a scheme for licensing the use of the MHP mark linked to the conformance testing regime managed by ETSI (described above).  In 2012 it was decided no longer to grant new licences of this mark.
