V GRID Plugtests™, GridCOMP & FMCO Conferences and European Concertation Meeting: From Components to Services to Utilities

Further to the success of the IV GRID Plugtests in 2007 (150 participants from many different countries), ERCIM, INRIA and ETSI decided to organize this year an enhanced event, V GRIDS@WORK in France composed of:

• A series of conferences and tutorials: view the programme.
• A V GRID Plugtests, during which one competition will take place:
  Grids for Finance and Telecommunication Contest.

This Plugtests event is supported by the EUROPEAN EchoGRID Project and will take place on a Grid infrastructure with many different machines and protocols. You may provide machines to this effect.

The GRID computing opportunity

Grid computing offers a model for solving massive computational problems using a large number of computers arranged as clusters, embedded in a distributed telecommunications infrastructure.

Goals of the event

• Bring together Grid Researchers, Grid Industrials and Grid Users;
• Learn about the future features needed for the Grid infrastructure, through the Grid users experience;
• Learn how to best program Grid aware applications;
• Get useful feedback on the deployment and interoperability of Grid applications on various Grid clusters;
• Boost the Industry take-up of innovative Grid technologies;
• Learn more on Grid for Industrial applications and Interoperability, with a focus on Finance and Telecommunications.

Who should come to the event

• Researchers and engineers willing to hear about programming techniques for the Grids
