Abstract: From Grid to Clouds: GCM TC Grid Standards and Genomic Sequencing
Denis Caromel,INRIA-Univ. Nice Sophia Antipolis-CNRS/I3S
This talk presents the conceptual and practical breakthroughs achieved with the definition of the Grid Component Model (GCM), implemented in ProActive Parallel Suite, a complete framework providing Java Parallel Programming seamlessly integrated with Scheduling and Resource Management.
GCM has been initially defined in the CoreGRID NoE EU funded project.
The GridCOMP STREP EU funded project (11 world-wide partners) has been refining this definition and providing the reference implementation of the GCM specification based on the ProActive library. GCM features strong conceptual novelties, such has Multicast and Gathercast interfaces, for very high-level and efficient parallelism.
The talk will also report on large scale Processing of Genomic Sequencing on Desktop and Cluster Grids.
