This webinar will provide an overview of the ETSI OpenSourceMANO project and the latest features delivered with Release TEN, followed by a demo of a practical Edge orchestration use case.
The demo will showcase how latest features in Release TEN enable OSM to provide management and orchestration of value added customer services in retail edge sites. It will show how OSM can automatically scale services depending on the number of customers on-site, managing an application that stimulates redirecting visitor flows through the store to avoid congestion spots, helping to ensure social distance among customers and a COVID safe environment.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a fundamental enabler of sustainability through its remote sensing and control capabilities in ‘green’ ICT solutions. Wider adoption, however, depends on using technology sustainably.

During this webinar, the speakers will illustrate new developments that are making this possible. This will cover principles for designing IoT systems sustainability and practical guidance for implementing low-code and low-maintenance IoT devices based on the oneM2M standard. The session will also take a longer-term view of new approaches to support ultra-low power devices that bring the potential for trillions of IoT devices closer to reality.

Presented by: Dale Seed (Convida Wireless), Andreas Kraft (Deutsche Telekom) and Ravikumar Pragada (InterDigital).

ETSI’s flagship annual event on cybersecurity took place virtually on 14-18 June 2021.

The virtual ETSI Security Week 2021 allowed for even more diverse participation from around the world. It gathered all stakeholders to debate five important aspects of cybersecurity:

Securing Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) Cyber Security Policy

It was a unique opportunity where the security community came together in ETSI virtual world to network, share, influence and learn during this week of events!

ETSI's Centre for Testing and Interoperability and the OSM community organise the OSM#11 Hackfest from 31 May to 04 June 2021. The event will be run remotely, allowing participants to join the hands-on sessions from home.

The OSM#11 Hackfest will be followed by the OSM#11 Plenary the week after.

Scope

The OSM#11 Hackfest will be fully dedicated to Network Functions packaging and onboarding to OSM Release NINE, bringing a brand-new challenge to OSM users and developers.

During the Hackfest kick-off, an overview on NF Onboarding in OSM will be provided by OSM community experts. Participants will be organized in teams based on the Network Function selected at the time of registration. Through the Hackfest week and with the mentoring of OSM community experts, they will be challenged to build a package, including NFV standardized descriptors, instantiation, Day-1 and Day-2 operations, for the NF of their choice. The last day, each team will have the opportunity to demonstrate their achievements and the best onboarding demonstration will be awarded!

Event type: Seminars

The ETSI Seminar is run once a year, to provide an intensive course on ETSI, its organization, structure, ways of working and related subjects. It is targeted at those who are new to ETSI or those who need to develop a deeper understanding of how to work effectively in ETSI.

Although designed primarily for newcomers to the Institute, the fact that ETSI is constantly evolving means that even those individuals with an extensive experience of the Institute and its work find it beneficial to attend. The Seminar is free of charge to attend and is open to all, members and non-members alike.

The ETSI Seminar is an important step in the orientation programme for new members. It facilitates their active participation in ETSI, 3GPP or oneM2M - a must if your organization has just joined ETSI. It is essential also for new delegates who have recently started to participate in ETSI work. In addition it also is an opportunity to meet key personnel in the ETSI Secretariat.

As well as describing the structure and organization of the Institute and the partnership projects, the seminar provides a detailed look at ETSI's on-line services and other tools for electronic working, which have dramatically improved the efficiency of the standards-making process. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPPTM) and the oneM2M Partnership Project are also covered.

Half of the seminar is focused on the ETSI overview, organization, structure, governance, funding, decision making and other high-level issues, and half covers the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively as a delegate in an ETSI standards meeting.

Who should attend? New members of ETSI Candidate (applicant) members New delegates in ETSI committees Newly appointed chairs, vice-chairman or rapporteurs in ETSI New experts on ETSI Special Task Forces Those who are involved in managing or tracking standardization activities Staff from national standards bodies, or other standards bodies or fora

In fact, anyone involved in ETSI and standards-making in any way will benefit from attending!
