New specifications for performance management of satellite multimedia networks

Satellite systems delivering broadband multimedia services need to be effectively managed to ensure satisfactory performance is maintained. In order to help improve compatibility of performance management functions of satellite systems and their network components a set of new specifications has been issued for ETSI Broadband Satellite Multimedia (BSM) systems. These specifications cover key issues needed in a functional framework for managing IP (Internet Protocol) services over satellite.
India's 'Electronic City' welcomes TTCN-3

Experts in test software from India and other parts of Asia have declared their strongest-ever commitment to the testing technology known as TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation Version 3). They had gathered at the second Asian TTCN-3 User Conference (T3UC) which took place from 16 to 18 November in Bangalore, home of India's 'Electronic City'.

Organizations join forces to launch a cross-industry certification model for smart cards with post-issuance functionality

EMVCo, GlobalPlatform and the GSM Association (GSMA) have announced plans to develop a common, cross-industry certification model for secure elements with post-issuance capabilities. The aim is to simplify and speed up testing processes for pre-certified applications and certified UICC platforms, when they are redeployed.

Delegates at ETSI's first Business Innovation Summit on future wireless networks confirmed the need to link Research and Standards with Public Policy. Participants in the summit, which took place in Brussels on 2-3 November 2009 and which addressed the vision of wireless technologies as they may expect to be implemented five years from now and beyond, agreed that 'Digital Europe' will only be realized if there is a better understanding and acceptance of cross sector standards. The event attracted 80 participants who shared their views on how to make innovation timely and commercially viable.

ETSI IMS Plugtests™ show major advancements in interoperability between IMS networks based on 3GPP standards

ETSI today announced the successful completion of their third annual interoperability testing event for IP Multimedia Sub-system (IMS) NNI (Network-to-Network Interface). The event was organized by ETSI with the technical partnership of Orange Labs and promoted by the GSM Association's Rich Communication Suite (RCS) consortium and the Multi Service Forum (MSF).
