ETSI and GlobalPlatform strengthen relationship

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and GlobalPlatform have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance their joint initiatives in an official framework. The agreement will allow the organizations to share industry and technical knowledge, and synchronize specification development that will advance mobile services across a range of industries.
ETSI announces Wireless Factory starter group

ETSI is pleased to announce the launch of a Wireless Factory Starter Group, aimed at identifying standardization needs and opportunities in the rapidly-expanding domain of wireless factory automation (WIFA). The group's first meeting will take place from 20 to 21 October 2009 in ETSI's premises at Sophia Antipolis, southern France. This meeting is expected to result in commitments from its participants to collaborate in the development of new standards for WIFA.
ETSI creates new Industry Specification Group on IP traffic measurement

ETSI is pleased to announce the creation of a new Industry Specification Group to define a Measurement Ontology for Internet Protocol (IP) traffic. The results of the group are intended to provide a much-needed solution for network operators, Internet service providers and businesses by providing metrics based on a common understanding of IP traffic management and measurement criteria.

ETSI has established a collaboration with the recently-created Global ICT Standardization Forum for India (GISFI). The agreement, in the form of a Letter of Intent, foresees a sharing of best practices and identification of areas for co-operation in standardization work. The organizations will also work together on promotional activities of mutual interest. The Letter of Intent paves the way to future agreements which may result in even closer co-operation.

ETSI announces joint IPTV – IMS test event

ETSI signs Memorandum of Understanding with the European Smart Metering Industry Group (ESMIG)

A collaboration has been agreed between ETSI (the European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and the European Smart Metering Industry Group (ESMIG), that is expected to accelerate the deployment of 'smart meters' in Europe The move is expected to bring many benefits to utilities and their customers, including greater accuracy, reduced costs, improved consumer choice and ecological benefits through better management of natural resources.
