The 1st ETSI Smart Cities Workshop, 3-4 June 2013 at Sophia Antipolis, will be dedicated to examining the major issues that face city authorities and the enabling infrastructure providers who are building the cities of tomorrow. Such issues include, choice of technology, engaging with the citizens, cyber security and data privacy, business models and clarification of the roles of the major actors.

In December 2012 ETSI launched the Cloud Standardization Coordination initiative. The initiative was launched in response to a request to ETSI from the EC to coordinate with stakeholders in the cloud standards ecosystems and devise standards roadmaps in support of EU policy in critical areas such as security, interoperability, data portability and reversibility.

The Cloud Plugfest Series was originated by the Open Grid Forum (OGF) and SNIA in 2011. This event is the 7th plugfest in that series and is proudly co-organised by OGF, the SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative (CSI) and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). Co-hosting this event are the SNIA CSI and ETSI in the US and Europe, respectively.
