The success of the previous Cooperative Mobility Services Plugtests™ events in 2011 & 2012, on ETSI ITS Transport and Networking communication layer protocols, has led ERTICO and ETSI to pursue their efforts in providing a further series of interoperability events for Cooperative Systems.

The 4th ETSI M2M Workshop will examine major issues facing wide-scale M2M deployment. Machine to Machine communications is the foundation layer for our future world of smart devices, smart appliances, smart homes, smart buildings and smart cities. To unlock the potential offered by M2M, we must understand and address issues related to business models and incentives, technology choices, involvement of different industry sectors, security and data privacy. We must also understand the roles of major actors and their numerous use cases.

An international conference dedicated to test automation, jointly organized by ETSI, Smartesting and ALL4TEC.

UCAAT is dedicated to the practical engineering and application aspects of automated testing including model-based testing, test methodologies, test management and use of test languages such as TTCN-3. This year's edition will have a special focus on integrating model-based testing into the testing ecosystem.

A second ETSI Workshop on Environmental Impact Assessment and Energy Efficiency will take place on 7-8 October 2013, in Athens, Greece, hosted by the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET) and supported by the ECONET project.

Protecting the environment is a global concern, and one which involves whole industries, as well as individuals. Determining how to reduce the environmental impact and reducing energy consumption will provide obvious environmental benefits, but it also makes good business sense.

This workshop will bring together the diverse communities that will need to co-operate to standardize and deploy the next-generation cryptographic infrastructure, in particular, one that will be secure against emerging quantum computing technologies.

ETSI, OCEAN Project, OGF, OW2 and SNIA invite you to their first joint Cloud Interoperability Week, co-hosted with the EGI and SDC conferences.

The event will provide an insight into the current stat09-18e of Cloud Standards implementations and use cases. It will evaluate the level of interoperability of different solutions and showcase how Cloud Standards work together.

This event continues the series of Cloud Plugfests aimed at promoting interoperability efforts on cloud standards-based software, services, frameworks, products and projects and will be combined with a workshop and demonstrations. This event is supported by the European Commission.
Open Cloud projects are welcome in the Workshops and in relevant testing sessions of the Cloud Interoperability Week.

ETSI is organizing the 1st 6LoWPAN Interop event (Plugtests) in Berlin, Germany on 27 and 28 July 2013 with the support of IPSO Alliance, FP7 PROBE-IT and IPV6 Forum. This event will be co-located with the 87th IETF meeting (28 July - 02 August 2013).

The Seminar, a regular service provided free to our Members, is aimed at improving the effectiveness of standards-making in ETSI by developing special skills in those people actively involved in our work.

What Does Industry Expect from Standards Education?

Industry needs for standardization education will be the core theme of the ICES 2013 (International Cooperation on Education about Standardization) Conference, hosted by ETSI on 12-13 June 2013 and supported by CEN and CENELEC. Immediately following ICES, the WSC (World Standards Cooperation) Academic Day 2013 will take place on 14 June 2013 at the same venue, with the theme of Education in standardization for future managers - needs and prospects.

Technological as well as business developments make standards indispensable. In order to benefit from standards, companies need proper knowledge about them and about their development. Standardization education should provide such knowledge, both for current business leaders and employees, and – via formal education – for future jobholders and citizens in industry and society. 

The Small Cell Forum, in partnership with ETSI, is organizing the next Small Cell LTE Plugfest in June 2013, hosted by the SINTESIO test lab in Slovenia. Obligatory pre-testing will take place on site the week before (4-7 June).
