PAdES Remote Plugtests 2015
The remote Plugtests™ interoperability event was held from 4 May to 5 June 2015 and concentrated on PAdES Digital Signature (PAdES - PDF Advanced Electronic Signature). This remote event aimed to conduct conformance and interoperability testing on PAdES digital signatures. This event was a real success with over 100 participants from 60 different organisations all around the world.
This testing provided full test coverage of the specifications including testing signatures evolution, simulating real life situations.
The testing covered the ETSI TS 102 778 but also the draft ETSI EN 319 142. A special focus was performed on the augmentation of PAdES signatures and on the usage of some new attributes defined in CAdES and XAdES signatures.
The tests included creation and verification of signature and were executed according to new draft EN 319 102 (Procedures for Signature Creation and Validation).
The PAdES specifications are in the process of becoming EN 319 142, but drafts are publicly available for review.
- 319 142-1 PAdES digital signatures; Part 1: Building blocks and PAdES baseline signatures
- 319 142-2 PAdES digital signatures; Part 2: Extended PAdES signatures
This Plugtests event enabled participants to conduct 3 types of tests (Interoperability and Conformance):
- Generation and cross-verification (Positive) tests
- Only-verification (Negative) tests
- Conformance testing
As this was a REMOTE event, there was no need for the participants to travel to the ETSI premises and all signature exchanges and verifications were performed via a dedicated portal.
This activity was supported by the European Commission.
