2nd 5G-ENSURE Project Workshop
Friday 16 June 2017
ETSI will be hosting the 2nd 5G-ENSURE Project International Workshop during the Security Week.
The workshop will provide an overview of the research and technical results in 5G privacy and security achieved within the 5G-ENSURE (https://5g-ppp.eu/5g-ensure/), one of the 5G-PPP projects from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.
5G-ENSURE defines a reference security architecture for 5G networks, which was recently agreed as a vision in the 5G-PPP Security working group and shared by most 5G-PPP Phase I projects. Furthermore, supported by the project's architecture, 5G-ENSURE provides a number of key enabling technologies addressing core security and privacy concerns in 5G networks. These enablers include novel AAA mechanisms, privacy-enhancing technologies, tools for assessing the risk and analysing the trust relations between entities in 5G networks, and security monitoring and security-enhancing network management approaches.
The scope of 5G-ENSURE workshop is to transfer the vision, concepts and enablers matured and released for 5G network and system security to be considered in the ongoing 5G security standardization work.
An Open Consultation Survey on 5G Security and 5G-ENSURE activities will be launched to collect feedback from the 5G community of experts and (future) users.
The results will be presented and discussed during the workshop and will be an opportunity to exchange European perspectives on security work in 5G-ENSURE.
5G-ENSURE drives the "5G PPP vision" for security and privacy to build the trust and confidence necessary to achieve the full potential of 5G within the European Digital Single Market. Its strategic goal is to create impact across technology and standardization for a secure, resilient and viable 5G network, thereby creating and sustaining new business opportunities.
5G-ENSURE is defining a 5G security architecture, developing enablers to make 5G networks trustworthy, operating a 5G test-bed, and contributing to security standardization with a focus on 3GPP and ETSI.
5G-ENSURE has received funding under Horizon 2020 for the first phase of the European 5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership, the 5G PPP. The project officially kicked off on 1st November 2015 and will run for 24 months.
The EG-ENSURE consortium is coordinated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (FI) and technically managed by Thales (FR). The other partners are b<>com (FR), Ericsson (SE & FI), University of Southampton IT Innovation Centre (UK), NEC Europe (DE), Nixu (FI), NOKIA (FR), Orange (FR), SICS Swedish ICT (SE), Thales Alenia Space España (ES), Telecom Italia Information Technology (IT), Trust-IT Services (UK) and University of Oxford (UK).
