Co-ordination with other ESOs

CEN, CENELEC and ETSI are the recognized European Standards Organizations.

See general guidelines for the cooperation between CEN, CENELEC and ETSI and the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association .

The 3 European Standardization Organizations (ESOs) deal with different sectors but common interests exist and with the convergence of Information Technology and Telecommunications there are inevitably issues where co-ordination on policies and agreements need to be reached. They are committed to co-ordinate their work programmes to avoid overlapping activities and to increase efficiency.

This is done in the Joint Presidents' Group (JPG) that acts as the forum for such discussions. A general goal is to prepare agreements of matters of common interest, including those related to communication with the EC and EFTA. Relevant issues may include communication with the EC and EFTA, as well as the interface to the worldwide standardization activity. In this context, the Seconded European Standardization expert in China (SESEC) reports to JPG.
