3rd ETSI TC M2M Workshop
24 - 25 October 2012

Standardized framework
for interoperable M2M Services

Connecting smart devices, platforms & applications to the Internet of Things

ETSI is pleased to announce the third edition of the highly popular M2M workshop series.
This year's event will focus on the implementation of standardized the M2M service platform into real life operators networks.

The ETSI Technical Committee M2M is defining the end to end M2M service platform and the intermediate service layer that are key components of the horizontal M2M solution. This standards based platform is engineered to support multiple services, whilst remaining network agnostic.
The M2M platform is capable of working with any IP network, reusing  the underlying functionality whilst being capable to leverage the capabilities of the underlying mobile, fixed and/or broadband IP networks.
On the access side, the M2M systems aim to integrate the access sensor network technology, ranging from general Wi-Fi to specific M2M capillary network technologies

In this context, ETSI is pleased to invite you to our 3rd  workshop on Machine to Machine Communications, which will  be held in the Agora, Sophia Antipolis, France, on the 24 - 25 October 2012.

Register for M2M WorkshopThe event is free of charge
and open to all upon registration.

GOALS OF THE WORKSHOP:

1. To present the progress made on ETSI TC M2M specifications as well as the plans for future developments in M2M standardization.

2. To explain the concepts contained within the M2M standards solution, and offer methodologies for implementing the proposed solution in real life networks

3. To study in greater depth the strategic and technical challenges that are facing all of the main actors in the M2M industry, including:
• Lessons learned and opportunities for early adopters of the ETSI M2M horizontal service platform,
• Market needs in terms of key services to be supported and/or migrated,
• Integration of Vertical market requirements into a horizontal service offering
• Support for the complex application interworking for specific service segments developed in other for SDOs/fora
• Seamless integration of existing technology solutions that are present in today's wireless sensor networks
• Key applications for M2M such as smart Energy, smart cities, automotive

4. To examine the integration of the M2M service platform into existing and future networks:
•
What kind of API (Application Programming Interface) shall be offered to the services?
• What interfaces and APIs will be offered by the underlying networks?
• What security levels are acceptable to the market and how will they be implemented?
• What solutions for data management using data semantics
• Interaction with underlying operator networks such as LTE

5. To discuss M2M convergence and Regulatory matters
• How can M2M standards duplication be avoided
• Cooperation between standards organizations to provide one M2M solution
• Regional requirements (EU mandates and how TC M2M are responding)

The agenda will be published by end of July 2012.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

• Representatives of the ICT industry working on M2M and related technologies and services
• Representatives of the vertical market segments that could be served by M2M solutions
• CTO-level, technology and product management
• Standardization experts and technical managers
• Representatives of related standards organisations
• Participants from impacted ETSI Technical groups
• Participants of related research projects

The workshop is free and is open to non-members of ETSI upon registration.
